Continuing a racing career spanning almost three decades, AJ Allmendinger competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series driving the No. 16 Chevrolet for Kaulig Racing. Allmendinger, who remains a highly competitive driver, is a three-time NASCAR Cup Series race winner; two of these wins include Kaulig Racing’s first wins at the premier series of the sport that came at the Verizon 200 at the Brickyard and the Bank of America ROVAL 400 at the Charlotte ROVAL.
Allmendinger, most recently honored for his racing accomplishments as a member of the Class of 2025 West Coast Stock Car/Motorsports Hall of Fame, has competed in both the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series since joining Kaulig Racing in 2019. Allmendinger earned two Xfinity Series Regular Season Championships and most recently raced for the 2024 Xfinity Series Championship, ultimately finishing third in driver points.
Allmendinger has left his mark in several racing disciplines, including open wheel, CART and Indy Car, IMSA and sports cars, and NASCAR. Known as a road course ace when he came into the sport and continues as one of the winningest road racers in NASCAR history, Allmendinger has also established himself as a consistent force as a full-time competitor in the premier NASCAR Cup Series.
Since welcoming their son, Aero James in September 2023, Allmendinger and his wife, Tara, enjoy spending race weekends at the track as a family. Away from the track, Allmendinger spends his time on the golf course and being a dad to his son, and their four-legged children, Xena, the French Bull Dog, and their cats, Chicken Nugget, Charlotte, and Speed Racer.
