BURLINGTON SOCK PUPPETS’ TO HOST NASCAR NIGHT WITH KAULIG RACING

August 3, 2021

AJ Allmendinger to Throw out First Pitch at Sock Puppets Final Home Game

LEXINGTON, N.C. (August 3, 2021) – Closing out its 2021 schedule, the Burlington Sock Puppets will host an inaugural NASCAR night with Kaulig Racing.

The Sock Puppets, an MLB-affiliated, collegiate, summer-league baseball team, will host its final home game of the season on Thursday, August 5, with a special appearance from Kaulig Racing. AJ Allmendinger, driver of the No. 16 Hyperice Chevrolet, will throw out the first pitch before the game against the Pulaski River Turtles.

“We are honored to be able to host NASCAR night with the Sock Puppets’ for their last home game of the summer!” said Chris Rice, president of Kaulig Racing. “We think this is a great way for families to come together and enjoy both NASCAR and America’s favorite pastime!”

The team will also help kick off the Sock Puppets’ “Backpack Bash”, collecting school supplies for a local middle and high school in the Burlington, N.C area. In an effort to support NASCAR’s kids and family initiatives, Allmendinger will participate in an autograph session and meet and greet before the game.

“As we near the end of summer, as well as our league season, we thought it would be a great idea to host a backpack event to help raise school supplies for one of our local schools, Graham High School,” said Anderson Rathburn, general manager of the Burlington Sock Puppets. “We’ve teamed up with St. Mark’s Church to purchase backpacks to fill and have asked fans to bring school supplies to our final home game. In return, they will get to participate in an autograph session with Kaulig Racing driver, AJ Allmendinger!”

In addition to helping raise school supplies for the Sock Puppet’s “Backpack Bash”, Kaulig Racing has also offered up a team fan pack, including two tickets to the NASCAR Xfinity Series Race at the Charlotte Roval, as part of a 50/50 raffle.

The Sock Puppets’ first-annual NASCAR Night will take place on Thursday, August 5 at the team’s home field, Burlington Athletic Stadium.
