No. 16 Campers Inn RV Mobile Medic Chevrolet

Christian Eckes fired off free in and tight off in the No. 16 Campers Inn RV Mobile Medic Chevy. He found speed late in the run, noting that his car’s entry built tighter as he found the confidence to drive into the corners deeper. After finishing the opening stage in 22nd, he pitted during the break for four tires and fuel, gaining six spots on pit road, before starting the second stage 16th. After cracking the top 15 on lap 58, Eckes continued making gains and was the fastest car on track for multiple laps. He finished the second stage 12th, radioing that he was happy with the No. 16 car’s balance and wanted very minimal adjustments. He pitted during the second stage break for four tires and fuel and started the final stage from 12th place. Just as Eckes had worked his way into the top 10, a caution for rain came out, eventually ending the race early. He earned his eighth top-10 finish of the season and was the second biggest mover of the race.

“Tough break for the race to be cut short when we were headed in such a positive direction from where the day started. We fired off a little free, but our No. 16 Campers Inn RV Mobile Medic Chevy had really good long-run speed. I think if the race stayed green until the end, we maybe could have grabbed a top-five finish out of it. But I’m thankful for a clean race and a decent finish.”

No. 10 Champion Container Chevrolet

Start: 30th
Stage 1 Finish: 28th
Stage 2 Finish: 22nd
Finish: 21st
Daniel Dye fired off tight in the No. 10 Champion Container Chevy but held on through the opening stage to finish 28th. Not thrilled with the ride quality, Dye pitted during the stage break for tires, fuel and a track bar adjustment, before starting the second stage from 22nd place. Opposite from the first stage, Dye fired off free but built tight as he ran, finishing the second stage in 22nd. During the second stage break, he pitted for tires, fuel, and air pressure adjustments, before starting the final stage in 22nd place. Dye gained one spot, before a caution for rain came out, ending the race early on lap 131. Dye was scored 21st.

“We had a little bit of a tough start to the day and weren’t super satisfied with how our No. 10 Champion Container Chevy was handling. The car started coming to me a little in Stage 2, and we were on track for a decent finish. Unfortunately, the rain cut our day a little short.”

No. 11 Alloy Employer Services Chevrolet

Start: 29th
Stage 1 Finish: 32nd
Stage 2 Finish: 30th
Finish: 27th
Josh Williams gained four positions on the opening lap to make it into 25th, but quickly, he began struggling with the No. 11 Chevy’s handling and slipped back to 32nd. With one lap remaining in the stage, Williams went one lap down, but he held onto the free-pass position and finished Stage 1 in 32nd. Williams radioed that the car was “out of the track” and loose in the center of each set of corners, leading crew chief Eddie Pardue to call for a major track bar adjustment and spring rubber change during the stage break. Williams pitted for tires, fuel, and the aforementioned adjustments, and he restarted in 32nd for Stage 2. After picking up two spots in an uneventful middle stint, he took the green-white-checkered running in 30th while on the lead lap. Williams pitted for tires, fuel, and another track bar adjustment. After a quick pit stop by the Alloy Employer Services crew, he fired off for the final stage in 23rd with 101 laps remaining. Williams reported that the adjustments made the car worse, and he fell to 27th on lap 118. On lap 131, the caution came out for rain, which eventually ended the race early with Williams scored in 27th.

“Just not a great day on track in general. Tried a lot of different changes in the pits and even during practice, but it didn’t end up working out for us. I think we had a shot for a top 20 if things fell our way with the last restart there, but we sort of got shunted there and couldn’t recover. Onto Indy, that’s an important race for Alloy Employer Services and [CEO] JR Pine.”
