Vacation Mode: Kaulig Racing's Favorite Spots

Usually, all of us at Kaulig Racing would be preparing for an off-weekend from racing, when many of us plan vacations. Although we are unable to go on these trips right now, we wanted to share some of our favorite vacation spots and why we love them so much!

Joseph “Cruz” Gonzalez, Underneath Mechanic on the No. 16 Kaulig Companies Chevrolet

“My wife and I love going to Charleston, because we love the history and low country atmosphere. We love walking through the streets and checking out all the old buildings. We actually built our house to look a Charleston-style home. Ghost tours are a fun, history lesson and are a must if you visit!”

Bryce Bratton, Tire Specialist and Interior Specialist on the No. 11 LeafFilter Gutter Protection Chevrolet

“My mom’s side of the family is originally from Costa Rica, so I love going back to visit! Along with hanging out with family, I love to explore rainforests and some of the historical sites in this beautiful country! Be sure to check out the beaches and rainforests if you ever take a trip there!”

Carly Miktuk, Manager of Driver and Team Communications

“I love taking trips to the Virgin Islands! On my last trip, I decided to go by myself and spent eight days sailing the British Virgin Islands — it was the best decision I’ve ever made! St. Thomas is a great place to spend a few days if you’re traveling to the Virgin Islands. Magen’s Bay is an incredible place to spend a day soaking up some sun. Clear waters and great swimming! Plus, it’s only about a 2.5-hour flight from Charlotte!”

Alex Yontz, Crew Chief on the No. 11 LeafFilter Gutter Protection Chevy

“My wife and I have a fifth-wheel camper we always take to Ocean Lakes Family Campground at Myrtle beach. We enjoy going there together to get away! We love it down there, because it’s a gated community, and we have our own golf cart and can go to the store or wherever we need to go. Once we get there, we never leave in the car, because we can go everywhere on the golf cart. It’s fun to just relax and hang out on the beach, cook dinner and have a cocktail in the evenings!”

“Like Alex, I also love to camp at Ocean Lakes Family Campground! When not at Myrtle Beach, my wife and I love to go to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. We enjoy sightseeing and fishing off the coast!”

Amanda Leach, Director of Sponsor and Guest Relations

“On our next family trip, we would love to go to Key West, Florida! Our plan is to completely unplug while there and enjoy the historical sites and beaches there. We would love to take a day trip to Bimini and visit the Island of the Pigs.”

Ryan “Turbo” Richmond, Front-End Mechanic on the No. 11 LeafFilter Gutter Protection Chevy

“My wife’s family vacations at Holden Beach every year, and we plan on going there. This beach is much more secluded and quiet than Myrtle Beach or Wilmington. The best place to eat there is Provisions!”

Troy Phillips, Front-End Mechanic on the No. 10 Nutrien Ag Solutions Chevy

“Usually around this time of year, my family likes to enjoy the outdoors! The Phillips Family Fun weekends usually consist of a fun, staycation, camping weekend! We build a fire, put up a tent and eat hot dogs and s’mores!”

Who doesn’t love s’mores over a campfire? Yum!

Garrett Steiger, Manager of Social Media and Creative Content

“My favorite vacation spot is Punta Cana, Dominican Republic! I went there last year for the first time and couldn’t believe how gorgeous it was. This place is a must-see if you like beaches and relaxing by the pool! I can’t wait to go back!”
