“It honestly does, truthfully, feel good to be the lowest-finishing Kaulig car in seventh. Kaulig Racing went and won an oval race with AJ Allmendinger. Justin Haley finished third and never ran the top, he just bottom fed it all day. For us to be finishing seventh – it’s not what we wanted. It definitely wasn’t the speed we showed the first two stages, but we learned a lot. I struggled with being really loose all day, especially the second half of the race. I just couldn’t keep up with those boys. Congrats to this whole shop, and this whole building to win on an oval track. It’s been a big bucket list item for Chris Rice, and he checked it off.
We’re going to Homestead – going home for me. It’s the closest track to Fort Myers and Alva, a track that I grew up going to, mostly the truck races there and occasional Xfinity or Cup race. I have a lot of memories of the track knowing it was the closest one. Tyler Reddick set the bar high last year winning the race and the championship. For us to go there with a double header, we need to take care of our cars on Saturday so we can run them again on Sunday. That margin of error needs to be a little bit bigger. I’m looking forward to this challenge and the rain that’s going to come. We will be ready for both days with our Nutrien Ag Solutions car, the same paint scheme. You won’t see anything different. I can’t wait.”
