Kaulig Racing Weekly Preview | Pocono Raceway

June 19, 2025

Making a Difference at the Kaulig Companies Championship

This week, the Kaulig Companies Championship is teeing off in race team owner Matt Kaulig’s backyard of Akron, Ohio, for the third-straight year. Held at Firestone Country Club, this event marks a major championship for PGA Tour Champions, formerly known as the Senior PGA Tour. The winner of the Kaulig Companies Championship gains entry into the 2026 Players Championship.

All five of Kaulig Racing’s drivers have made appearances at events in the Akron area to both help promote the event and make a difference in the community.

On Monday, Matt Kaulig was joined by Josh Williams at the Akron Children’s Hospital to help open up the hospital’s new Autism Center. Williams also continued his hospital tour following the event.

AJ Allmendinger, Ty Dillon, Christian Eckes, Daniel Dye, and Williams joined students from Lebron James’ “I Promise” school to play Top Golf on Wednesday.

Additionally on Wednesday, Matt Kaulig was joined by team executives Chris Rice and Ty Norris, and drivers Ty Dillon and Daniel Dye who all competed in the Official Championship Pro-Am.

Mexico Recap:

  • All three of Kaulig Racing’s NASCAR Xfinity Series drivers earned top-20 finishes in Mexico City last weekend in the Chilango 150. Christian Eckes earned his career-best finish of fourth place, his second top-five finish on a road course.
  • After being involved in a wreck on lap seven, AJ Allmendinger and the No. 16 team rebounded to finish 13th, advancing him to 17th in the driver point standings.

At Pocono Raceway:

Additionally, the team has qualified within the top five six times, most recently in 2023 with the No. 11 Chevy driven by Daniel Hemric (second).
  • Kaulig Racing has made six starts at Pocono Raceway in the NASCAR Cup Series. Allmendinger notched the team’s best finish at the “Tricky Triangle,” capturing 17th place in 2023.

“Pocono is definitely one of those places where I feel like I need to get the monkey off my back… Something always seems to happen against us when we’re there. Because of how long the straights are, you need to carry a lot of speed out of the corners. If you don’t have the motor or exit, you’ll lose time pretty fast. I think we’ll get something dialed up this weekend for it.”

“I really enjoy racing at Pocono, my home track. Every corner is different, and it’s challenging to find something that works in all the corners. Typically you have to sacrifice one corner to be better in the other two. That’s part of what makes racing there such a fun challenge. After a strong showing in Mexico City, I’m excited to head to Pocono and race in front of some family and friends.”
